Our Parish Intentions / Prayer Line–

• That the pope, our bishop and all ministers of the Church be compassionate "fishers" of souls for God. WE PRAY TO THE LORD

•  That the nations and peoples of the world may live in peace, working together to protect the dignity and rights of all.

•  That all people recognize the God-given right to life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death.

•  That those who walk in the darkness of illness, addiction and abuse may see the "great light" of Christ.

•  May this Year of Faith fill our parish community with an outpouring of virtue.

Holy Father's Prayer Intentions for July, 2013

The Pope's general intention is: “That World Youth Day in Brazil may encourage all young Christians to become disciples and missionaries of the Gospel.”

His missionary intention is: “That throughout Asia doors may open to messengers of the Gospel.”

YEAR OF FAITH UNIVERSAL INTENTIONS–

AS WE ENTER THIS YEAR OF FAITH, LET US ASK GOD'S HELP TO MAKE US FIRM IN OUR RESOLVE:

For the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, and for all bishops, that God will give them the grace and wisdom to touch the lives and hearts of many during this year of faith, WE PRAY,

For the Church throughout the world, this this Year of Faith may be a time of spiritual renewal and personal encounter with Christ for people everywhere, WE PRAY,

For St Mary's parish, may this Year of Faith be a time to renew our love for Christ and the Church, and to enter into a deeper devotion to our patroness, the Virgin Mary, WE PRAY,

For the poor and those in need, may our deepening of faith during this Year of Faith help us to long for justice and peace in the world, WE PRAY,

For Christians everywhere, may the Year of Faith be an Opportunity to renew our baptismal vocation and may we grow in zeal to share the Gospel with others, WE PRAY,

"GOD OF LIFE, YOU ENDOW YOUR PEOPLE WITH THE GIFT OF FAITH.
HEAR THE PRAYERS THAT WE PLACE BEFORE YOU TODAY.
MAKE US STRONG IN OUR COMMITMENT TO YOUR SON
AND GIVE US THE COURAGE TO SPREAD HIS GOSPEL OF LOVE AND PEACE.
THROUGH CHRIST OUR LORD... "
R. AMEN

WATCH, O LORD (St. Augustine)

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight,
and give Your angels and saints charge over those who sleep.
Tend Your sick ones, O Lord Christ.
Rest Your weary ones.
Bless Your dying ones.
Soothe Your suffering ones.
Pity Your afflicted ones.
Shield Your joyous ones, and all for Your love's sake. Amen.

The traditional patron saint for healing is St Raphael.

Prayer for Healing

Glorious Archangel St. Raphael, great prince of the heavenly court, you are illustrious for your gifts of wisdom and grace. You are a guide of those who journey by land or sea or air, consoler of the afflicted, and refuge of sinners.
I beg you, assist me in all my needs and in all the sufferings of this life, as once you helped the young Tobias on his travels. Because you are the "medicine of God" I humbly pray you to heal the many infirmities of my soul and the ills that afflict my body. I especially ask of you the favor (here mention your special intention), and the great grace of purity to prepare me to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
God, with great wisdom You direct the ministry of Angels and men. Grant that those who always minister to You in heaven may defend us during our life on earth. Amen.
